‘Motivational, feel-good, and soul soothing, it’s music that needs to be heard.’
Intro to Hauskey
Following on from two beautiful singles during this year, the arrival of Western Australian singer-songwriter Hauskey’s debut EP doesn’t disappoint. Building on merely a glimmer of what this extended release offers, each of the 6 tracks blend wonderfully with each other while giving us something new. Best summed up by Hauskey himself: “the six [tracks] here felt like they capture the diversity of my songwriting, and what I want to say right now” it certainly appears he had done exactly that. Equally, as though a musical love letter to future fans, he twins the release with a simple, but honest statement: “From my bedroom studio, to your ears – I hope you love these songs as much as I do.” Judging by what we’ve heard on the EP – but what ‘Silver Lining’ in particular gives us – I think it’s safe to say that many more people will love his music very soon.
Track Review
Taken from Hauskey’s debut EP ‘Slow’, ‘Silver Lining’ is indie at it’s finest. Somewhere between Kevin Parker and Rex Orange County, Hauskey creates uplifting music suited for a summer feel-good playlist. And yes the comfort of warmer days may be long gone, but that’s as good a reason as any to hear it. Wiping away the winter blues, it pushes those temperatures we now yearn for into the single. Likewise, while it comes in at just under 2 and a half minutes, the shortness makes it sound even sweeter and fuelled with passionate elements of love there is much to enjoy.
Shouted from every rooftop in town, ‘Silver Lining’ tells the story of having someone in your life that keeps you going even when you feel like giving up. Little surprise then that the prominent hook of ‘You’re the silver lining’ radiates positivity. A musical brightness among the clouds of the year, it really is what the whole world needs more of right now. Equally, while this may apply to the single, the whole EP is worth pressing play on as its instantly uplifting sound is bound to leave a smile on your face when you’re feeling down. Highly motivational, feel-good and soul soothing, it’s music that needs to be heard.
