To say that award winning Miranda Arieh is intriguing, creative and inspirational as both an artist and a person would be the biggest of understatements. Receiving high acclaim for her left-field approach in the form of the
Leeds Music Video Awards ‘People’s Choice Award’ the past two years, she has already become recognised for all the right reasons. However, with Miranda gaining a prestigious, Inspiring Women Changemakers ‘Social Impact Star’ Award for her mental health campaigning,
it’s clear that her presence goes beyond the music she creates. Previously releasing the surprise-filled

Instantly infecting us with the most catchy of off-beat synth chord patterns, there is no opportunity for us to even consider accepting the left-field sound on offer. It’s there. Right in our heads. And joined by thumping four-to-the-floor bass drum, we find ourselves moving freely to an unexpectedly joyful sound. Rhythmically encouraging us, our shoulders give in first and closely followed by the rest of our body, we want to forget our troubles. But musical irony is about to occur.
Bringing the most unique of vocal tones – and not just by today’s standards – Miranda projects the lead chorus lyrics of ‘Impossible to right my wrongs’ in a way that perfectly balances past pain and personal progression. With delicate vocal breaks playing a key role in the musical storytelling, it’s not hard to hear the emotion – and the meaning – behind them. However, set to the increasingly uplifting accompaniment, this opening rendition of an ear worm bursting chorus tells us that the focus is more on moving forward rather than dwelling on past experiences.
Moving through a dreamy – almost calming – instrumental link, the emergence of new percussive and synth based motifs gently transform the sound. Setting up a fuller texture for a reprise of the chorus, the addition of high-hat, snare and bass turns the track into a mid-tempo floor filler! Bringing musical reinforcement that we should not just forget our troubles, but dance them away, it’s impossible to resist. But, if you can, hold them in for just a few more seconds. You are about to get full on musical instruction!
‘Impossible, to right my wrongs…… Impossible, from dusk ’til dawn’
Dramatically changing the whole atmosphere of the track, we suddenly find ourselves experiencing an onslaught of a very different, but equally musical kind. Now comprised of instrumental accents – in the form of synth brass and organ – and more hectic, drum machine led percussion, the change is as different as could be. So different in fact that, like the opening of the track, you simply accept it. However, don’t let this easy acceptance be at the cost of fully experiencing Miranda’s vocal. Showcasing every unique inflection she has to offer, each lyric hits you at full force and even among their full-on break-dance encouraging surroundings, the intent is never lost.
Switching back to the up-beat side of the track, the chorus re-emerges and following what has just occurred, it feels even more hopeful than before. However, while the track then returns to its more impassioned side, the greater use of space within both the vocal and the accompaniment hints that the emotion is soon to switch. And switch it does. Becoming increasingly enhanced by softer, dreamier musicality, we reach a gospel-esque conclusion that proves, beyond doubt, that moving forward and being positive, is not ‘Impossible.’
