Behind the Music: Interview with Riveira

‘In the studio we’re serious, but playing live, we let ourselves loose!’

Describe your music style in no more than 5 words:
A bluesy pop indie disco!

Where are you from? We are from all over the place! Pol is from Nantes, France, Louis is from London, Craig is from Harlow, Essex and David was born in Austria but moved to Harlow when he was 7. In 2016 we all moved to Brighton to study Music at BIMM and that’s where it all began!

Do you have any releases and/or performances coming up soon? We have our debut single ‘Remember’ coming out on 16th February which we’re all looking forward too! Gig wise, we have a show on 19th February with a great line up working with In The Basement. We also have our first headline show at The Prince Albert on 13th March, which is being put on by the lovely guys at Scruff of The Neck.

Do you prefer performing live or recording in a studio? We like both a lot, they are two different ways of expressing music. Being in the studio is more of a serious, creative experience where we are trying to perfect our sound. However when performing live, we like to let ourselves loose and have a good time playing the music we’re all proud of!

Who are your inspirations? We all have different musical influences. Pol gets his from Phoenix and John Mayer, Louis gathers his from The Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix. Craig has a strange taste from Coldplay to Architects and David loves Metallica and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

What is the most recent performance you did? Our most recent performance was on 24th January at Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar in Brighton. We were main support for Voodoo and the Crypts and our friends in Scruffy Pups opened the show, it was a really great night we all had a great laugh and a good dance! Even though David’s hand cramped up which meant he was playing one handed for half of the show we still had a great time!

Ahead of their single release ‘Remember’ 16th February, keep up to date with Riveira by following them on Facebook.
